Human Resources Manager Since being granted our Royal Charter in 1599, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow has been improving health and healthcare for people around the world.
Today, we are a professional membership body providing education, assessment and development to more than 15,000 Fellows and Members at all stages of their careers.
The Human Resources Manager will be an integral member of the College Management Team, reporting to the CEO and supported by the HR Coordinator. The role will provide high‑quality HR advice, guidance and support in line with best practice and employment legislation, working closely with all managers on recruitment, onboarding, training, employee wellbeing, people management and embedding the College values and behavioural framework.
Responsibilities Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training programmes. Support staff wellbeing and health initiatives. Manage employee relations and deliver the People Strategy. Develop and implement a programme of learning and development. Act as an ambassador for the College, demonstrating values and delivering a people‑focused service. Work primarily on a 3‑day week (Tue/Thu/Fri) with flexibility and hybrid working after the probationary period. Qualifications HRM or Business degree graduate and CIPD qualified. Minimum five years’ experience as a Human Resources Manager with demonstrable success in employee relations. Experience with HRIS, preferably Moorepay HR. Strategic thinking with operational delivery. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Enterprising mindset, proactive and resilient. Proactive approach to learning and CPD. Strong influencing, persuasion, relationship building and negotiation. Excellent interpersonal skills – diplomacy, discretion, and tact. A sense of urgency and passion to deliver outstanding service. Ability to manage multiple projects. Highly competent in Microsoft Office. Commitment to the College purpose and values. Benefits Pension scheme – contributory, 6 % to 10 % employee contribution.
