Client Overview

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their collaborative Finance team and support the organization's day-to-day accounting operations and financial compliance.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$45k - $50k DOE

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting and bookkeeping functions while supporting the organization's financial reporting, grant compliance, budgeting, and month-end close process. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and supporting state, federal, and private grant funding requirements. The Staff Accountant collaborates closely with the Manager of the department and other members of the Finance team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial operations.

Responsibilities Of The Staff Accountant

Manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities, including maintaining the general ledger, posting financial transactions, and ensuring accurate accounting records.Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, payment vouchers, check runs, employee expense reimbursements, and payroll journal entries.Perform bank reconciliations, assist with the month-end close process, and prepare accurate financial reports.Support grant accounting, funding source reporting, annual budget preparation, and budget modifications while ensuring compliance with nonprofit and funding requirements.Assist with annual audits, state and federal financial monitoring, and maintain compliance with GAAP and organizational accounting policies.

Required Experience/Skills For The Staff Accountant

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Experience/Skills For The Staff Accountant

Nonprofit, governmental, or fund accounting experience.Experience with grant accounting and financial reporting.Knowledge of state and federal funding compliance requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
